What the recruiter says

Hail: Kroggl says, 'Me gots big jobs to do for de Wayfarers. Vampires really bad tings but dey gots lots of stuffs we want to see. Me gets to go with adventurers to see. You go too if you gots a strong head. Spooky dere. Really spooky. If you can rally de call of your friend perhaps you can help wit a serious [problem].'

[problem]: Kroggl says, 'De power struggles in Mistmoore's Catacombs just keep goin' and goin'. Mayong's young kiddies called de Scions want to rule over de older kiddies, de Trueborn. Me know they hate each other lots! De smart Scions learned how to make really bad monsters dat they are aiming at de Trueborn and us too. We need a powerful force to go and kill dose beasts before they come to de surface. Are yous [interested]?'

[interested]: Kroggl says, 'No mercy. Smash dem vampires, .'

How it plays out

1. Enter the caverns. Your arrival does not go unnoticed: "Your footsteps break the silence in the caverns. Your activity has alarmed nearby scouts looking to please their master with information of an intruder. Perhaps it wasn't so wise of you to come here..." Near each stone beast you hear "Something large and menacing claws at the rocks just ahead..."
2. Kill the three Guardians of Kel`Novar. Each one "shudders violently as it transforms into a lifeless statue. The power of its master wanes slightly by the loss of its soul-bound guardian." When the third falls: "Your victory has weakened a shroud of magic cloaking the dungeon's treasure." Elsewhere you may hear "Dirt falls from the ceiling as the distant thunder of stone footsteps lashes out at the still air..."
3. Unmask the false Valdoon (optional, for an extra chest). One Valdoon Kel`Novar is a decoy. Killing it brings "A mighty laugh echoes out into the night from the gargoyle aviary. The sound of Valdoon Kel'Novar's voice is clear, 'Did you fools really believe I would be so careless? You'll not live to regret the mistake of crossing the Trueborn!'" and a fourth Guardian rises from its corpse. Killing that Guardian weakens the shroud again.
4. **Kill the real Valdoon KelNovar.** If the three Guardians are dead: "Your victory has shattered the shroud of magic surrounding the dungeon's treasure." If any of them still stand, the raid ends with no treasure: "Valdoon KelNovar falls, but the shroud of magic around his treasure holds fast. His soul-bound guardians still stand, and the dungeon's treasure remains beyond your reach."

Reward

Two reward chests appear when the real Valdoon dies, but only if all three Guardians of Kel`Novar were killed first. A third chest appears if the false Valdoon and the Guardian that rises from it were also killed.
