LDoN Raid: The Rujarkian Hills: Prison Break
Recruiter: Luarnn Gibbizt, East Commonlands camp · Theme: Rujarkian Hills · Portal: Southern Desert of Ro
What the recruiter says
Hail: Luarnn Gibbizt says, 'Thinking of venturing into the Rujarkian Hills? I admire that kind of spirit. Coincidentally, we're looking for a few brave souls to help us with an interesting task -- if you don't mind danger. If you can rally the call of your friends perhaps you can help us with a serious [problem].'
[problem]: Luarnn Gibbizt says, 'A party of our most experienced adventurers recently went to the Rujarkian Hills as scouts. We have not heard from them for several days and suspect that they've been captured. We need you to gather a force and make an assault on the Rujarkian jails. Find the eight members of the missing party and free them. Be warned, the Rujarkian Warden is a brute even by orcish standards. He will not allow his prisoners to escape while he still draws breath. Are you [interested]?'
[interested]: Luarnn Gibbizt says, 'Bring our people back alive, . Please.'
How it plays out
- Find the shackled prisoners. Three captured Wayfarers, Maziyae Xanl`Utin, Piyea Frost and Eneau Welani, are chained in the prison. Hail one and he tells you what to do: "...You'll need to get the keys from the taskmasters in order to free us. Three taskmasters for three prisoners, hurry before the orcs are alerted to your presence."
- Kill the three Taskmasters (Devrak, Dokorel and Velrek). Each one's corpse "crumples to the ground lifeless. You search his lifeless body for some sign of a key, but are unable to find anything. You do however notice a treasure chest out of the corner of your eye that you could have sworn wasn't there a minute ago." Each small chest holds a prison key. When the last Taskmaster falls: "Your victory has weakened a shroud of magic cloaking the dungeon's treasure."
- Free the three prisoners. Give one key to each of the three prisoners, in any order. The last one freed warns you that five more of their brothers were dragged off to the gladiator pits, and that the warden is coming: "...Hurry! I think I hear the metal boots of that foul warden approaching, you must keep him from sounding the alarm!"
- Deal with Prison Guard Talkor. Talkor arrives, sniffs out the raid ("I smell softskins! Where are my taskmasters!") and then bolts to raise the alarm. Killing him gives "Your victory has weakened a shroud of magic cloaking the dungeon's treasure." If he gets away, the raid still goes on, but his chest is lost.
- Clear the five gladiator-pit rooms. Clear the orcs out of each of the five prison rooms. In three of the rooms, one of the Wayfarers you freed then "sneaks silently up behind the prisoner guard, dagger poised and ready..." and the captive "struggles free of his bonds and stands up... He then fades into the shadows without a sound." The other two captives are freed as soon as their rooms are empty.
- Kill Warden Neyremal and High Shaman Yenner. When all five rooms are clear: "A great roar shakes the cavern walls... The warden's voice snarls at you, 'You'll not leave this place alive softskins! I'll be feeding your miserable carcasses to the prison dogs in the morning!'" Kill both of them. When the second one dies: "The last of the prisoners has escaped and the warden lies dead at your feet. You have done well."
Reward
When both the Warden and the High Shaman are dead, Yenner's chest always appears, plus the Taskmasters' chest if all three Taskmasters are dead. A third chest appears only if Prison Guard Talkor was killed before he could escape.
